The Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) provides leadership in economic, financial and resource management shaping the long-term economic outlook of the State.

The Essential Services Commission is an independent statutory economic regulator.
Under legislation, the Commission’s primary objective is to protect the long-term interests of Victorian consumers with regard to the price, quality and reliability of essential services such as electricity, gas, water and ports.
The Commission’s role involves regulating prices, service standards, market conduct and consumer protection. We also investigate regulatory matters that affect Victoria’s essential services and advise the Government. As part of the Commission you will use your skills to improve the economic development and quality of life of all Victorians.
